2011 Nissan 370z - High Performance Z-Series Tradition

Nissan did not deliver on its plans to unveil a hybrid 370Z in 2011, but the high performance sports car does deliver unparalleled features in the 40-year Z-series tradition.

Nissan is offering three models of the 370Z convertible roadster: the standard entry level model, the Touring car, and the 370Z Touring with Sport Package option. The price range extends from $37, 520 to $43,890. The 370Z Coupe series features three model options plus the NISMO 370Z. The price span extends from $30,610 for the base model to $39,990 for the NISMO.

The 2011 370Z from Nissan has the same 3.7-liter , V6 engine with 332 hp at 7,000 rpm, just like that of the previous model year. Optional manual transmission features six speeds, while the automatic transmission is a 7-speed with a manual shift assist.

Falling far short of the fuel efficiency figures for Nissan's drawing board hybrid model, the 2011 Nissan 370Z reports 18 mpg in traffic and 25 mpg on the highway, manual or automatic alike. These high-performance vehicles use high-test fuel as well.

The NISMO 370Z delivers an upgrade in power, with 350 hp and 270 pound feet of torque in a 3.7 liter V6.

Road Test of the 2011 Nissan 370z

The 370Z has the loud engine and quick, responsive handling that sports car enthusiast's love. With smooth, powerful acceleration and stable steering control, this Nissan is a snappy commuter vehicle as well as a high-performance ride.

The new SynchroRevMatch mechanism automatically ups engine speed on the downshift for smoother engagement. Braking is smooth and controlled. Some road testers found the suspension stiff, compromising passenger comfort.

Interior Features

The 370Z interior numbers among the roomier two-seat set-ups in its class.
Headroom may be tight for taller drivers, however. The seats sit low and are well-padded, featuring bolstered armrests that make long road tours luxuriously cushy.

Padded knee rests add to the comfort factor. The tilt-able steering wheel/ instrument panel allows the driver to customize the cockpit fit. The Z coupe is built for clear lines of sight in all directions except to the rear corners, where interior roof supports obstruct visibility.

The spoiler on the NISMO model sits high enough to obscure rear visibility, as well. The raised convertible top on Z roadsters create blind spots, but large rear-view mirrors ameliorate the problem.

Add-ons such as the Nissan Hard Drive Navigation System with touch-screen convenience, XM NavTraffic, and XM NavWeather add tech points to the 370Z control panel. Touches of leather lend elegance to the interior trim.
