We loved this review from the Irish Herald. The reviewer had this to say about the Juke Nismo:
“[A]bsolutely bonkers is the Nissan Juke Nismo, but in a blatantly barmy and bodaciously brilliant kind of way.
The Nismo is the Juke on steroids, a power-packed sports car from the people who brought us some of the great models though the ages, including the R32 and the GT-R.
Most amazing about the Nismo is that here is a car that can whack out 200bhps and comes in the form of a mere 1.6 litre engine, petrol of course.”
For those of you wondering exactly what “barmy” means, it’s British slang for barm, which is the foam on top of fermenting liquor. It’s another word for frothy, exciting, flighty. You get the idea.
For 2013, the Juke has a revamped version of Nissan’s advanced inline 4-cylinder 1.6-liter DOHC aluminium-alloy Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG™) turbocharged engine. Direct injection helps improve combustion, enhancing power, torque, economy and emissions. The use of the turbocharger and intercooler also help boost power, while the variable timing control for both intake and exhaust cycles improves low-end engine response.
For use in the JUKE NISMO, both power and torque have been increased without compromising emissions and efficiency. The JUKE NISMO is rated at 197 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, versus the standard JUKE’s 188-horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.
The front-wheel drive JUKE NISMO is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the all-wheel drive version comes with a sport-tuned version of Nissan’s advanced Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission) with manual mode.
Fuel economy is rated at 27 mpg City (est.) and 32 mpg Highway (est.) for JUKE NISMO FWD (6MT) model and 25 mpg City (est.) and 30 mpg Highway (est.) for JUKE NISMO AWD (CVT).
The suspension has also been lowered slightly versus non-NISMO JUKE settings, reducing the gap between the tires and wheelwells for a cleaner appearance and improved aerodynamics. An independent MacPherson strut front suspension and torsion beam rear suspension is utilized on FWD models, while JUKE NISMO AWD model offers a multi-link rear suspension design. A cradle-type front subframe enhances lateral stiffness of the assembly. Front and rear stabilizer bars are standard on all models.

Nissan X-Trail Spied in Hot Weather Testing in Death Valley
The Nissan X-Trail is an SUV that is available outside of the US. Purportedly, the Rogue is sold in the X-Trail’s place in the United States. We’re hearing rumors that the X-Trail will be available in 2014, and that the vehicle has been spotted undergoing testing in California’s Death Valley. Go here to see photos of the X-Trail in testing in California.
The X-Trail is a softer styled and is based on Nissan’s Resonance Concept, pictured above. (See, we told you that Nissan had plans for Resonance!) Nissan is expected to offer the new X-Trail with a gas-electric hybrid powertrain in addition to its conventional options. It sounds like the new X-Trail will be announced later in 2013, possibly at September’s Frankfurt motor show or November’s Los Angeles auto show, ahead of its early 2014 launch.
The Resonance Concept debuted at the 2013 North American International Auto Show. Nissan News says “With its boldly futuristic aerodynamic styling and fuel-efficient hybrid-electric powertrain, the Nissan Resonance concept proposes an all-new dynamic and edgy design that once again leads the trend for the crossover category.”
The front exterior design shows a V-Motion, which starts from the front grille, moves through the hood and resonates with the iconic boomerang shaped headlights. The body is strengthened by powerful surfaces and provocative lines and is accented by the flow through the car to the kick-up shape around D-Pillar.
Inside, Resonance has an advanced instrument panel floating on a generous console, which keeps the infotainment and communication features close at hand. Technology is graphically layered to give a holographic experience and visual depth is used to separate information in order of importance.
The open glass roof gives passengers a unique panoramic view of the world and floating elements like the roof lining add to the sense of space and airy lightness. The spacious interior atmosphere is enhanced by the sculpted door panels and elegant, deep shape of the center console.
