In today’s world, fuel-efficiency is extremely important when considering which car you want to buy. You want to be sure you have a car that not only meets all of your wants in the way it looks and runs but also doesn’t break the bank you need to fill it up with gas. Thankfully, Nissan has many great options. Here are the six most fuel-efficient Nissan cars of 2016.
The Nissan Sentra has a 1.8 L, four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission that has 130 horsepower. With the exception of Nissan’s electric car, the Sentra is the company’s most fuel-efficient vehicle, getting 40 miles per gallon on the highway and 30 miles per gallon in the city. For additional fuel-efficiency, you can select between the three driving modes of Eco, Normal, and Sport.
Nissan’s smallest regular-fueled car is the Versa. The Versa has a 1.6 L, four-cylinder engine with a four-speed automatic transmission. This small engine boasts 109 horsepower and is highly fuel-efficient. It gets 40 miles per gallon on the highway and no less than 31 miles per gallon in the city. Take advantage of the cruise control, and make sure your tires are properly inflated via the Tire Pressure Monitoring system to get even higher mileage.
The Nissan Altima is a full-size car with a fuel efficiency that makes its competitors cry. The Altima has a strong 2.5 L four-cylinder engine that has 182 horsepower. It has an 18-gallon fuel tank, which allows you to drive long distances on one tank of gas, especially when you get an impressive 39 miles per gallon on the highway. Plus, in the city you don’t lose too much fuel efficiency at 27 miles per gallon.
Just because you want a crossover with all-wheel drive doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice on fuel efficiency. The Nissan Rogue is slightly smaller than the Murano yet offers a fantastic mileage of 33 on the highway. It barely loses any efficiency in the city at 28 miles per gallon. Additionally, it has a strong 2.5 L four-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower.
Sports cars with V6 engines often trade speed and performance for fuel efficiency, but not with the Nissan Maxima. This car has a 3.5 L V6 engine that is incredibly strong and gets 300 horsepower. However, even with this power and strength, it still gets 30 miles per gallon on the highway and 22 in the city. Upgrade to a model with Drive Select, and choose between Sport and Normal to increase the fuel efficiency.
Although the Nissan Leaf is not exactly fuel-efficient, since it is completely electric, it’s worth a mention. The Nissan Leaf has a 100 percent electric engine with an advanced lithium battery that can be driven from 84 miles to 107 miles before it needs to be charged. This might not make it “fuel-efficient,” but it does make it economically efficient.
As you can see, Nissan puts out several great cars that are highly fuel-efficient.
