Nissan to Make Leading-Edge, Accident-Avoidance Technologies Accessible to ALL

Safety is one of the main criteria drivers have when looking for a new car. Interesting, then, isn't it, that as a general rule, only top-of-the-line brands and models have the most high-tech, active safety features such as lane-departure warning, pedestrian warning and blind-spot warning? Thankfully, Nissan doesn't believe safety is a privilege. They never have and never will. Take their brake override technology, for example. Congress is now mulling the possibility of making such a precaution mandatory across all models, industry wide. Nissan made it standard on all models, starting all the way back in 2005.

Forging ahead with drivers' best interest at heart, Nissan is breaking out of the industry's boxed-in notion of available safety features even more. Specifically, they're adding highly sophisticated image processing to their current Around View Monitors so that they are able to serve as a multi-faceted warning system at high speeds. Among the detection services the new in-house designed system, dubbed Multi-Sensing System, offer are lane-departure warning, pedestrian warning, and blind-spot warning.

Nissan is already pretty far along on the project. And, other automakers, hot on their trail, are expected to copy the idea soon. Of course, Nissan is taking this as the highest form of flattery and good news for drivers fitting all economic profiles. That said. Given Multi-Sensing System was designed inside Nissan walls, by Nissan engineers, it is expected to be exclusive to the company for at least a couple of years.

As far as availability is concerned. The cutting-edge active safety system is expected to launch as soon as next year. Among the many mainstream Nissan models that could gain the highly-anticipated technology are the new Nissan Rogue, Nissan Murano, Nissan Altima and perhaps the Nissan Sentra.
